PageBuddy

Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Overview

PageBuddy is designed to work without collecting personal data or operating its own servers.

Your PDF files remain in the locations you choose. PageBuddy stores app data locally on your device and, if iCloud is available and enabled for PageBuddy, may synchronize certain data between your devices using Apple's iCloud infrastructure.

Data Collection

PageBuddy does not collect personal information for analytics, advertising, tracking, or profiling.

PageBuddy does not use:

Your PDF Files

PageBuddy does not upload or copy your PDF library to PageBuddy servers. The app works with PDF files stored in the folders and locations you choose.

PageBuddy may access PDF files only as necessary to provide the app's reading and annotation functionality.

Annotations

Annotations created in PageBuddy do not modify the original PDF file. Drawing and annotation data is stored separately from the original PDF.

If you choose to export an annotated PDF, PageBuddy can create an annotated version of the document while leaving the original PDF unchanged.

iCloud Synchronization

PageBuddy uses Apple's iCloud infrastructure to synchronize app data between devices signed in to the same Apple Account when iCloud synchronization is available and enabled.

CloudKit

PageBuddy uses CloudKit to synchronize structured application data, which may include:

This information is synchronized through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure and does not pass through servers operated by PageBuddy.

iCloud Drive

PageBuddy may store and synchronize application files through its iCloud Drive container. These files may include:

These files are used to restore annotations and reading state across your devices.

Book Recognition

PageBuddy may use a cryptographic hash of a PDF file to recognize the same document when it appears again in one of the folders tracked by the app.

This allows PageBuddy to restore information associated with that document, such as reading progress and annotations, when appropriate.

Data Stored by PageBuddy

Depending on how you use the app, PageBuddy may store:

Data Deletion

PageBuddy provides controls for managing and deleting your data.

Action What it does
Clear Annotations Removes annotation drawings and resets reading progress for the selected book.
Delete All Data Permanently removes PageBuddy book data, annotations, reading progress, reading session history, search history, and app settings. This action cannot be undone.

Deleting the App

Deleting PageBuddy from your device removes the app and its local data from that device. However, data synchronized through iCloud may remain in your iCloud storage.

To remove your PageBuddy data before deleting the app, use Settings → Data Management → Delete All Data.

Children's Privacy

PageBuddy does not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Third-Party Services

PageBuddy does not use third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. iCloud synchronization is provided through Apple's services and is subject to Apple's applicable terms and privacy practices.

Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will always be available on this page.
